After 26 years of navigating the medical system I took my health into my own hands! I was sick of being offered medications and support that did very little to help. In July 2019, just before my 40th birthday I hit another deep depression.

Like the times before I searched for a new way to bounce back, to “heal”. Ironically, I came across the documentary “Heal” and decided to give Reiki a try. (check it out, on Netflix!!)

The session provided a deep sense of relaxation. I was able to shift my mindset and perspective and could clearly see that there was hope in improving my illness.

Since then I have been on a healing journey I never expected. This included becoming a Reiki Master. I have been practicing Reiki and intuitive readings for 2 years. I have a unique style in a session bringing in my mediumship and intuitive abilities to help direct energy more effectively and guide the client through the session to clear blocked chakras, move stagnant energy and support their individual healing needs.

Stress, The Silent Killer.

More and more I hear people expressing that they have extremely high levels of chronic stress in their lives. COVID 19 hasn’t helped and in fact has perpetuated even more anxiety, depression and worry in the collective.

When an event or even thoughts cause stress in the body your hypothalamus, a tiny control tower in your brain, decides to send out the order: Send in the stress hormones! These stress hormones are the same ones that trigger your body’s “fight or flight” response. Your heart races, your breath quickens, and your muscles ready for action. This response was designed to protect your body in an emergency by preparing you to react quickly. But when the stress response keeps firing, day after day, it could put your health at serious risk. Dr. Lipton suggests that stress is responsible for up to 90% of all diseases including:

  • Cognitive deficits
  • Cancer
  • Mood disorders
  • Insomnia
  • High blood pressure
  • Weakened immune system
  • Arthritis

What Can We Do?

To manage stress and decrease the negative effects it’s best to take an approach that considers the entire mind, body and spirit. A good place to start would be to:

  • Connect with communities/people that are like minded.
  • Move your body doing activities you enjoy.
  • Consume a balanced diet and drink plenty of water.
  • Consult with a professional who can work with you on managing your stress.
  • Engage in a natural healing modality (like Reiki).
  • Spend time in nature, and enjoy its beauty.
  • Be kind and compassionate to yourself and others.
  • Use meditation and breathwork to reduce stress.

I have been doing my best to engage in these activities and it can be really difficult, especially when I am stressed. It’s hard to find the motivation sometimes. This is where I have found Reiki especially helpful. No matter how awful I feel it’s easy to chill out and receive energy to help relax, heal and move forward.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is an ancient healing practice that originated in Tibet and was rediscovered by Dr. Mikao Usui in Japan in the 1920’s. The word Reiki is Japanese and means universal energy, which is the vital life force energy. This life force energy nourishes our immune system and every cell in our body vibrates and emits a frequency that emanates out into the aura creating an energy field that surrounds the physical body.

It can cause a deep relaxation response and calming effect, and can help to alleviate pain, reduce tension in muscles and help release mental and emotional stress. It raises and refreshes the spirit and provides a deep sense of peace and calm that helps to restore a positive mind and outlook, making the treatment a good choice for helping to cope with stress levels.

What is distance Reiki?

Reiki teaches us that we are more than just our physical bodies and that Reiki surrounds us as an energy body. Reiki energy connects on our spiritual and energetic levels. Distant Reiki sessions work because energy is not limited by distance. Distance is only a physical limitation, so sessions can be done without clients being physically present. We are all connected, as we are all energy matter and part of a larger whole.

Are you ready for some deep relaxation? I invite you to book a distance session with me.
